Contract Type: Consultant (6-month initial contract)
Location: Nairobi.
Role Overview
Chief Operations Officer will oversee and streamline operations in our tech company. As a key member of the executive team, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, optimizing business processes, and ensuring the alignment of operational strategies with our organizational goals. This position is on a consultancy basis, initially for six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Operations Leadership
- Collaborate with the CEO to define and implement long-term operational strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Develop and communicate actionable operational plans and goals across departments.
- Serve as a key advisor to the executive team on strategies to optimize operations and support scalable growth.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
2. Process Optimization
- Evaluate current operational workflows and identify areas for process improvement.
- Design and implement streamlined processes to enhance productivity, reduce inefficiencies, and minimize costs.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of operational improvements.
- Leverage data-driven insights and analytics to support decision-making and optimize workflows.
3. Resource Management
- Lead and mentor operations and project management teams to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Optimize resource allocation, ensuring projects and operations are adequately staffed.
- Collaborate with department heads to foster cross-departmental teamwork and efficiency.
- Implement training and development initiatives to build internal capacity and support professional growth.
4. Technology and Infrastructure Oversight
- Assess the company’s technology infrastructure and recommend tools to enhance operational and project efficiency.
- Lead the integration of technology solutions to streamline workflows and support scalability.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies to ensure the company remains competitive.
- Ensure systems are seamlessly integrated across departments for smooth operations.
5. Finance and Budget Oversight
- Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage operational budgets and project budgets.
- Monitor operational expenditures and ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support cost-effective decision-making.
- Ensure transparent financial reporting on project and operational expenses.
- Contribute to strategic financial planning, including ROI assessments for operational investments.
6. Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify potential risks related to operations and project execution, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, legal requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain a proactive approach to managing operational and financial risks.
- Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity during disruptions.
7. Consultative Role
- Act as a strategic advisor, providing expert insights on operations, project management, and financial optimization.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for the CEO and board of directors on operational and financial performance.
- Regularly assess and adjust strategies to address evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with executives to shape the company’s strategic roadmap.
8. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise between operational, project, and finance teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and clients, to facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts.
- Represent the company in discussions related to operational efficiency and project execution.

Must Have
- Bachelor Degree or Higher
- Passion for software products
- Perfect written English
- Highly creative and autonomous
- Valid work permit for Belgium
